What is PD?

Professional Development (PD) is the maintenance, enhancement, and extension of knowledge, expertise, and competence of practitioners throughout their careers. [1]

Continuing Professional Development (CPD) compliance

Participation in a specific amount of PD is increasingly becoming a mandatory requirement for many health professionals as a part of regulatory processes or association membership. This requires the health professional to develop a PD plan and keep detailed records of the PD activities undertaken.

How PD Health can help you to comply

Planning - Participation in a specific amount of PD is increasingly becoming a mandatory requirement for many health professionals as a part of regulatory processes or association membership. This requires the health professional to develop a PD plan and keep PD records of the PD activities undertaken.

To facilitate this process PD Health is pleased to provide for our members access to our free module "Professional Development - Developing a targeted approach" which includes our templates to assist you to prepare an annual PD plan.

You will learn the importance of establishing SMART goals and you can then use the range of services and products available at PD Health to start you on the road to achieving these goals.

Remember we are always keen to hear from you and to assist you with your professional development. We are pleased to receive suggested topics for our PD activities. Let us help you achieve your professional development goals.

Recording your PD activities

Recording - With your PD Health member account you have the capacity to record your PD activities wherever you are, including those activities not undertaken via PD Health, therefore this account can become a central store for this information. Make every professional development activity count by ensuring you record all of your activities.

Our PD Health system will record all of the free and paid modules you complete as well as your reflective practice journal. If you contribute to a forum we suggest you print out your contributions or save them to file and upload into your PD record. Below is an example of the training record page:

If you read an article why not summarise it in your reflective practice journal at PD Health and record your hours in your training record in your member account.
